    Learn about diabetes diet

    There is some confusion around the most appropriate diet for the diabetic with no single regimen being proven to help the condition.

    There is conflicting dietary advice given almost every day from so called experts in their fields. This is made worse by the popular press selectively reporting snippets from medical papers that often has the effect of skewing the misinterpreting the original message.

    Undoubtedly, refined white sugar and products containing this substance are not going to be helpful for the diabetic simply because of the almost immediate absorption of this substance into the blood as glucose. But there is more to a diet suitable for diabetics than just sugar considerations.

    There have been claims of type 2 diabetes being cured by diet alone although the diabetic associations are adamant that no cure for diabetes exists.

    Christian Roberts of the University of California undertook research into diet and diabetes and found that in 50% of those studied, who followed a diet based on pritkin principles, the type 2 diabetes symptoms were reversed.

    The regime for this study involved participants exercising for one hour every day and following a diet that was based on vegetables and whole grains with a little animal protein.

    Another small study in the USA concluded that high fibre diets assisted in keeping blood glucose levels low.

    There is controversy over the dietary recommendations being offered by the diabetic associations both in the UK and the USA. Their current advice is for diabetics to follow a low fat, carbohydrate based diet despite what appears to be fairly compelling evidence to the contrary.

    The problem everyone faces in deciphering what represents a safe diet, whether they are diabetic or not, is in knowing which research to trust. Just about every piece of research undertaken has an agenda to be fulfilled. It may be that the research is being sponsored by a drug company to prove the benefits of a particular drug treatment; it may be that the research is undertaken by someone who is simply setting out to prove a pet theory. There is too little research that is truly independent and undertaken without prejudice to the outcome.

    It has been suggested, and some would say proven, that an Atkins type diet high in fat and protein and low in carbohydrate is the most suitable for a diabetic and it would certainly seem logical that restricting (particularly refined) carbohydrates would help to prevent elevated glucose levels in the blood stream.

    There is a link between insulin, glucose and cholesterol – particularly what is termed “bad cholesterol” and proponents of the Atkins diet claim that cholesterol levels are not adversely affected by this diet regime. Of course there are contrary views.

    It is important for diabetics to realise that everyone has an individual metabolism and physiology. What may be a healthy diet for one person could be life threatening for another. A diet based around healthy protein – organic white meat and fish; natural carbohydrates – vegetables, salads and fruit; and monounsaturated fat supplemented by the essential fatty acids is a good starting point. Once this is established there is no reason why, under controlled conditions, individuals should not try introducing whole grains to see what effect they have on their glucose levels.     Time management is basically about being focused.     There are so many ways to get what you want these days there is not reason for you not to be able to get that profession that you are wanting. It may take some time but it’s ok, that is all we have is time, if you think about it that is the truth there is nothing but time in our world. Instead of thinking that you do not have much time, think about the time you won’t have when you are working 70 hours a week just to make ends meet.

    Although we are working, we can spend some of the time wisely and focus to improve our skills. Without time we wouldn’t be anything. Have you taken a long deep look into your head to decided what you want to do when you really grow up? This is something they are suppose to get you to do when your in school is to show you how to become a professional. Who wants to think about school when we are young and we don’t want to send all of our time in school?

    Most of us are thinking at that time I don’t need school to make something out of myself, I will get a job. Most of us did that but if you are anything like others, soon you will find out that it wasn’t the wiset decision about the proper choices in life. Sometimes gets you by but as you get older and had a family of your own and soon noticed that what you was doing wasn’t going to get you the life you wanted for your children. We have to then think of how and what to do to improve our life so that we could set a good example for my children, this is when we have to take a long look in the mirror and think. You may have found out that you wanted to help sick children and adults so you decided that you were going to go back to school to become a nurse or you decided to get involved into the help third world countries. That is what some people did; yet as they went back to school and became that nurse they learned later that this that was absolutely not the case for the things they wanted to do in life. Some people run into some hard times in getting their degree but if these people would stick with it, things would work out fine.

    Like they say I don’t need school well they will soon see that they do need school. We cannot make our child do anything that they don’t want to do, but we can try to show them the right way in life. We can make them think about personal growth.     Ending bad habits is not as easy a task as it sounds. Very often we persist in behaviors that can have negative and sometimes life-threatening consequences, yet we can’t seem to get ourselves out of that rut.

    A habit is defined as “a customary pattern of behavior”|”a customary behavior pattern”. In some cases we may not even realize we have a habit and in others, we realize it but have trouble admitting it. It’s the lack of admission that prevents us from being the process of correcting the behavior and truly classifies it as habit.

    So what can be done? Sometimes it is necessary to get outside help, especially if the situation poses a threat to health and/or safety. Yet whether your habit requires professional assistance or not, here a four tips you may find useful:

    Expect it to take time to quit. Habits aren’t something that can be corrected with realization alone. It will take time and trials of tactics to eradicate bad habits.

    Get past the notion of helplessness. Your habit does not control you, you control your habit. It is a popular view that many problem behaviors are lifelong and uncontrollable, yet the science behind this notion is poor at best.
